Having crowned a new Miss USA and Miss Teen USA this last weekend, we thought it would be fun to share some favorite tips on getting competition ready when it comes to glamour.
Get Your Glow On:
I love a body oil or moisturizer that hydrates your skin and also leaves you with a radiant glow. Miss USA 2017, Kára McCullough, launched a new body illuminator that not only smells great, but also gives you a soft, luminous finish.
Accentuate Your Eyebrows:
They frame your face and open up the eye area for eyeshadow. Full brows are fully in style. Anastasia Beverly Hills sets the standard on brow products.
Add a Little Sparkle:
I love placing a light, metallic shadow color on the inner corner of my eyes and also directly above my pupils on my eyelids. For an extra little pop, use a soft highlighter on the highest part of the cheekbones. My go-to is Benefit High Beam liquid highlighter.
Blushing with Beauty:
I think it is important to apply blush in a Nike swish shape for the stage, rather than just the apples of your cheeks. By elongating and narrowing the shape in which you apply blush, it will translate better under the stage lights. Nars Orgasm is a cult fav which happens to be mine as well.
Flutter with Falsies:
In a pageant, using a set of fake eyelashes is a must. Once I fit them to my eye shape, then I apply a thin line of lash glue and look down on the counter at a hand-held mirror, which makes it is easier to line up the lashes than trying to look straight ahead into a mirror.
Love those Lips:
Your smile is what steals the show, so you want it to make a statement! Pick a lip color that either accentuates your skin tone or plays off of your dress color. I always line my lips with a warm pink or taupe, fill them in with a lipstick, and then pop a shiny gloss in the center. My favorite colors are from The Perfect Face Cosmetics.
Competition is busy and can be tiring. Since the eyes are the window to the soul, I want them energized and bright on stage. I’m a fan of the the Yes to Coconut Energizing Coffee Eye Mask to brighten and de-puff. It is a little more intensity than what a daily eye cream provides and will leave you looking rejuvenated and glowing.
